Program Overview
Search Fund Fellows is a private equity internship program that pairs undergraduate students (all grades) with acquisition entrepreneurs who are looking to acquire high quality, durable businesses (EV $1M - $10M). Fellows get to experience what a buyside process looks like gaining insights into deal-making and business operations. The program is paired a structured curriculum to enhance the fellows experience during the internship.
Program Benefits
Fellows who are selected gain hands on experience working in a live buy-side transaction alongside a search fund entrepreneur ("searcher") who provides mentorship, guidance, and career advice throughout the internship. Fellows develop strong financial modeling, valuation, analytical and problem-solving skills in addition to soft skills obtained by network with professionals in the private equity, SMB and finance community
Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct company and industry research to identify potential investment opportunities aligned with investment criteria
- Coordinate outreach and communication with brokers and sellers to source deal flow
- Assist in the due diligence process, including financial modeling, valuation, and industry research
- Prepare screenings, investment memoranda and presentations
- Assist in all aspects of the transaction process, including identifying investment opportunities and risks, transaction execution and financing
- Complete ad-hoc analysis and perform internal duties such as maintaining deal flow CRM
Qualifications
- Current MBA, undergraduate or recent graduate
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, including proficiency in Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, proactive and self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn
- Demonstrated interest in private equity, finance or business acquisition, evidenced by coursework, extracurricular activities, or prior experience
